How To Do Your Nails Without Nail Polish
This might seem like an off the wall topic, considering what else is on this site so far, but actually it completely works with this site because having beautiful nails, taking care of them and yourself and doing so WITHOUT harsh chemicals is a perfect way to Nurture Your Body!
Recently, I did my nails with clear polish because I wanted them to shine. I also added the white at the tip for the French nail look. They looked gorgeous! I loved them. It lasted about 1.5 days…then the white started to fall off. So I had to touch them up, repeatedly. It was really annoying.
And then to add insult to injury, after about a week when it was clear that the nice look was done, I took the polish off with nail polish remover and my nails looked AWFUL!! They were dried out, they started breaking. In short, the 1 to 2 days of nice nails just wasn’t worth it.
So…I went in search of an alternative to the clear nail polish. I love colored nails too, but the same problem happens and usually I just have to realize that having one week of cool nails just isn’t worth having to wait for them to repair over a month or two. Sigh. I know, life is so hard right? I honestly don’t know how the women who use even harsher chemicals on their nails to have them look nice ALL the time have any nails left. You have a secret? Please tell me.
Anyway, back to what I discovered about how to get beautiful nails without nail polish and my HUGE warning about a couple of products out there.
What I found were three products:
Revlon Crazy Shine Nail Buffer
Vaseline Healthy Hand and Nail
I had a hard time finding Vaseline Healthy Hand and Nail and ended up having to buy it from Amazon. I also bought the Revlon from Amazon and haven’t seen it at my stores, just FYI.
Kiss Shiners I finally found at Fred Meyer, the online price was ridiculous because unless I was giving them away as a gift, I didn’t need a dozen.
So here’s my warning…DON’T file them/buff them TOO much. I did that in the beginning because I was so thrilled by how they looked, instantly. I’m not kidding, without nail polish they looked amazing! And the shine lasts.
The problem? I must have filed them too much because they became really weak and started to easily bend. And bend BACKWARDS!!!! Which, if you’ve ever experienced you know, HURTS LIKE HHHHHHEEEE$$$*****.
So I learned the hard way. They have grown out now and are strong again and I won’t make that mistake again, so I’m just warning you. Don’t get so excited by their beauty that you think more buffing is better. It isn’t, you don’t need to do it too often and it can actually weaken your nail.
Okay, there you go. My brilliant tip of the day. You’re welcome 🙂
Please leave some tips if you have any!!
