The 5 Love Languages Overview

I was just recently told about The 5 Love Languages after talking to a friend about some problems in my relationship. I had never heard of the book but instantly went out and got it. I read it within a couple of days and was completely blown away by the content and the fact that I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS BOOK.

This book is amazing and since there are many different varieties that cater to everyone, regardless of age or marital status, this is really the perfect book and first step for mending a broken relationship.

Why? Because it not only helps you to understand yourself better, but it helps you to understand your significant other. It opens your eyes to the obvious things that were in front of you but you couldn’t see. For instance, what was missing in my life, I already knew. But I didn’t know that it was my PRIMARY love language and that that was why I no longer felt loved.

I had previously tried to convey what I needed and that it was important, but until he read part of this book and realized what I’d been trying to say, nothing had changed. After reading, he changed immediately. And so did I. I realized that not only was I not speaking his language, I was actually doing the complete opposite of what I should have been doing. And for him, he realized that the way he was showing love wasn’t my language and that even though he thought he was conveying his love, because it wasn’t my primary language, it didn’t mean much to me.

It’s remarkable how many relationships have been saved because of Gary Chapman’s seminars and books that finally teach us how to discover what someone’s love language is, why it is so important to speak it, and how to go about doing so.

Who is The 5 Love Languages For?

You have the option of the main book The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love That Lasts, however Chapman has many others that work for everyone, such as a version for singles as well as one for both children and teenagers.

For people in a relationship The 5 Love Languages is the best book to read if you are having ANY problems with your marriage/relationship. If your relationship is already great, this book can make it even better. However, for a few pinpointed problems, if you can relate to any of the items below I highly recommend it.

– Keys to a successful marriage
– Should I get married?
– My husband doesn’t listen to me
– My husband is mean to me
– My husband cheated on me
– My wife constantly threatens divorce
– My wife had an emotional affair
– My wife cheated on me
– Should I get a divorce

The book and/or website has The Five Love Languages Test so you can easily discover your love language as well as your spouse or significant other. Once you know what it is you can begin to fix what’s broken. It’s actually a lot easier than you think to fix something once you KNOW what’s broken.

My Final Opinion of The 5 Love Languages

I have nothing negative to say about this book. It was a huge eye opener for me and helped me to immediately realize what it was I was missing as well as what I could do to help fix my relationship. It takes a choice and commitment to do so, but knowing your love language and that of your spouse is the first step.
